Guided Tour of Prague 8 – Karlín to explore its unique blend of history and modernity
Event for international staff and students of UCT Prague and their friends or family members
- The entrance fee: Free of charge !
- When: Saturday, May 31, 2025, 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM
- Venue: Futurama Office Centre, historical building of Invalidovna, Lyckovo Square, Karlin Square with the Church of St. Cyril and Methodius, Negrelli Viaduct, Kooperativa exhibition hall, HolKa footbridge, Island of Štvanice
- Meeting place and time: at the exit from the B line of the INVALIDOVNA Metro station, between 2:15 and 2:30 PM
- How to get there: Take the B metro line or trams 3, 8, 12 or 24 to the Invalidovna stop
- What to look forward to: We will talk about the industrial history of the place and take a look at the newly built FUTURAMA Office Centre. We will walk then to the baroque INVALIDOVNA building, a significant historical landmark. Next walking stop will be at LYČKOVO SQUARE with its beautiful Art Nouveau building housing a primary school. We will continue to the KARLIN SQUARE with the Church of St. Cyril and Methodius, a beautiful example of neo-Romanesque architecture. At the NEGRELLI VIADUCT, we'll discuss the history of railways in our country. If there is time, we will visit the exhibition hall of the KOOPERATIVA insurance building, which exhibits works by renowned artists. Finally, we'll cross the HolKa footbridge to reach the sports and leisure island of Štvanice
