The 5th Workshop: Photocatalytic and Superhydrophilic Surfaces (PSS 2023)

Basic information

We are delighted to invite you to attend the 5th edition of the international workshop. The event will take place on 4-6 December 2023 in Prague, Czechia.

Chair: Josef Krýsa, University of Chemistry and Technology Prague, Czechia
Co-chair: Peter Kelly, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK

The workshop will address

  • Environmental applications of photocatalytic and superhydrophilic materials (air and water remediation, photo sterilization, self-cleaning surfaces)
  • Energy applications of photocatalytic and superhydrophilic materials (water splitting, carbon dioxide reduction, solar fuels etc. )
  • Chemical synthesis via photocatalysis
  • Evaluation of photocatalytic activity and superhydrophilic behaviour; film and particle characterisation techniques;
  • Production techniques of photocatalytic films and particles
  • Alternative materials and new applications

Contributions: invited/keynote lectures, oral presentations, poster presentations, student short talks

This is NOT a virtual event thus we are concerned to run it in the safest conditions and highest quality. We would be pleased to welcome you in Prague in December 2023

Call for contributed oral and poster presentations

All participants are kindly invited to present the latest results of their scientific work in one of the workshop topic area.  Each registered participant can submit as presenting author oral or poster contribution.

Abstract format

  • Download abstract template
    • The maximum length of the abstract is 1 page for both oral and posters presentations. To maintain a uniform conference Book of abstracts, please submit your paper conforming to the abstract template.

Abstract submission

Please submit your abstract in online registration form. You will receive an automatic confirmation of receipt via e-mail. If it will not be delivered within a few minutes after submitting of your abstract please contact us.

Abstract assessment

Authors will be informed on acceptance of their abstracts either for poster or oral presentation via e-mail by 15th October 2023.

Poster

The conference provides large  panel poster boards for placing physical posters. Each panel is 100 (height) x 100 cm (width). We plan to place 2 posters on each of these boards: 1 on each side. Hence, the optimal size and layout for your poster is max 100 cm heigh and max 100 cm width size portrait-orientation. You will need to print it and bring with you to Prague.

Programme

Confirmed invited speakers

  1. Isabel Oller, CIEMAT, Spain: Solar photocatalytic applications for water treatment and regeneration
  2. Yaron Paz, Technion, Haifa, Israel: Transient IR measurements as a tool for understanding photoactive materials
  3. Nicolas Keller, CNRS/Université de Strasbourg, France: Elaboration of photocatalytic films. Current challenges and selected examples

Practical info

How to get from the airport Taking public transportation is the cheapest way to from and get to the Prague airport. The ride costs 40 Kč for 90 min and the transit system is quite easy to use.

Bus 119 runs between the Ruzyně Airport and Nádraží Veleslavín metro station (metro line A). This bus is the best choice if your destination is in the historical center of Prague.

Bus 100 runs between the Ruzyně airport and the Zličín metro station (metro line B). Take this bus if your destination is near any of the metro stations on line B, such as in the New Town (Nové Město) or Smíchov districts. The bus runs every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes after 7 p.m. The ride takes 15 to 20 minutes.

You can look up bus schedules at dpp.cz. As the airport stop, enter 'Terminal 1' or 'Terminal 2'; the terminals are only a few minutes apart from each other. Enter 'Nadrazi Veleslavin' (bus 119) or 'Zlicin' (bus 100) as the metro station to or from which you wish to travel.
